Designing Smarter, More Sustainable Terminals for the Region’s Future

The future of terminal automation in Asia will take centre stage this September, as Portwise joins CTAC Asia 2025, taking place on 8–9 September at the Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur Hotel, Malaysia.

This will be the first time Port Technology’s flagship Container Terminal Automation Conference (CTAC) arrives in Asia, bringing together port authorities, terminal operators and logistics experts from across the region for two days of strategic discussion, technology insight and operational exchange.

Setting the Agenda: Strategic Priorities for Asian Terminals

Day One – 8 September | 10:00 – 10:45

Mahim Khanna, Regional Director at Portwise, will participate in the opening panel discussion of the conference, which will frame the strategic outlook for Asian terminals. This scene-setting session will explore:

  • The rising urgency of decarbonisation

Day One – 8 September | 14:30 – 15:15

In the afternoon, Zack Lu, Senior Project Manager & Consultant at Portwise, will speak on a panel focused on developing sustainability plans for terminals of all sizes.

This session will address:

  • How terminals can avoid the trap of isolated decarbonisation efforts

  • The role of digitalisation in improving energy efficiency

  • Infrastructure investments with the highest operational impact

Portwise will share how its models and planning methods help identify where sustainability interventions deliver the most value.

The Digital Terminal: Getting Started

Day One – 8 September | 16:30 – 17:30

Later that day, Mahim Khanna will return to the stage for Part One of the Digital Terminal series, helping smaller and less digitally mature terminals understand where to begin.

Topics will include:

  • Laying the foundation with a Terminal Operating System (TOS)

  • Moving from manual to digital workflows

  • Capturing operational data to support performance monitoring

Portwise will provide insight into how early digital steps can be strategically sequenced to avoid misalignment and inefficiency.

CTAC Asia: A New Regional Platform for Terminal Strategy

CTAC Asia 2025 will be the premiere gathering for ports and terminals in the region, offering the same high-quality content and strategic focus as CTAC Europe, but tailored specifically to the needs and realities of the Asian market.
